Filling Propane

They should make this topic a sticky at the top, every year the debate continues, I'm more wondering if the ice is safe yet.

They sell the fill adapters in the USA thats where I bought mine. I did a Mr. Google research and couldn't find where the Americans are getting blown up by refilling the 1lbers.

Well if they get blown up, how the heck you think they're going to post a "Don't refill your one pounder" response.. The wife sure isn't cuz she wants to collect the insurance money.

Take 1 lb bottle put in freezer for .5 hour take out and put small amount of propane in turning upside down when filling put back in freezer for .5 hour take out and fill up to 2lbs that includes tank and propane dont over fill more than this as tank warms it will build pressure. Use small scale to weigh it

I had a close call the one and only time I've ever tried to fill one and will never attempt it again. Bought a 5lb tank which cost under 4 dollars to refill at Costco and never looked back. Stay safe folks!

Been doing this for 10 years and never had any issues at all.


if you have problems maybe go with the 5 lb tank

X2. This was just my personal experience and I can guarantee it was operator error on my behalf.

I turn my big tank upside down when filling I get 3/4 full and chill the little tank. cheaper then buying new hope this helps. Muggsy

Any positive advice on this topic originating from members who, like myself, have virtually no eye brows, should be totally ignored!!

You know crap happened when you can smell the searing odour of eyebrows, eyelashes and nose hairs

Have been filling my 1lbers for a couple years now, with no issue. However, i do not mess with the pressure relief stem. I usually freeze my 1lbers for a good half hour prior to filling and get my bottles back to 14oz. I am not saying this is right or wrong and there probably are laws in place that prohibit this, that being said they are probably the same ones who want you to spend 7 dollars per lb.

thanks, i guess ill leave my propane tank in my house for an hour before filling up the 1 pounders. Heres to me not blowing myself up!!
