Agree, a deceiving cold early November just like the past two years and then back up to plus temperatures. Ice will be here but year after year the season gets shorter, with few exceptions in between..sucks!

Relax guys, it's not even December yet. We have a skim of ice around shoreline. I guess you might have to go a little farther north to get good ice. We're in Port Loring.

Oh there will be ice no doubt it will come. Average time For simcoe ice to start is still 3.5 week away. Anytime between Dec 20 and Jan 4 give or take a few days we will be fishing the perch.
A nice cold front pattern set to kick in after next week. The 2ndhalf of December looks promising.

Yeah I don't trust the weather reports any more until the day of. Closed down the cottage down in prince edward county the weekend of the 18/19 figuring we should have been ok with the 'posted forecast' but instead, got down to find out no water, every freaking line had froze and burst. Now opening next year is going to require a total replumb of the entire cottage!
So, ya never know what mother nature has in store for us.

Major pattern change comin down the pipe a week out. This should be the last of this garbage weather for the rest of the year I hope. Once the pattern flips its generally there to stay.

Except for the last 2 years. So far I have heard the same as last year. Mild and Snowy.

i saw a report saying this year will be a more typical Canadian winter due to some Portuguese lady names Nina showing up, gosh i hope so, three years ago i was snowmobiling from Cedar point to Christian island and the ice roads was open for cars, last two years it was open water and never froze up at all.

Got into ice fishing end of that season. I remember killing myself trying to hand drill 8" holes in over 24" of ice off willow beach...was insane

Yep, we are in for a "La Nina" weather phenomenon this year, basically where we are going to get colder then normal temps as the trade winds become stronger pushing the warm water towards the coast of Africa, while the cold water takes its place on our coasts. That's the basics at least.
