Yes! After scouting for several hours my buddies and I found some ice and with caution we ventured out about 200 yards. 1 h of fishing, one pike iced one broke the line! Headed back home. Was great to pop the ice cherry after April

Actually, we are in Huntsville for our Xmas vacation. We kept the house in Huntsville and are in Manitouwadge for 3 years for employment. We've been snowmobiling since Oct 30th. Have been ice fishing twice for Brookies and once for Walleye. I've fished Simcoe for years and years, being from Barrie. It's so nice up north to be the only person on a lake, no noise, no garbage or human beings setting up beside you because you had the good fortune of catching fish. I just love it up there. And yes, I can buy a house- a decent house in Manitouwadge for $40,000! I'm only renting but wish I could convince the wife to stay up there when I retire in 3 years.

Hey folks, can't provide you with an update on the lakes as I tried to get to a few small back lakes to check out the ice conditions but there was too much snow on the trail 12+ inches and I didn't want to get the truck stuck on any of the hills. Guess the only way in is with my quad now.

Sorry for the later update but my buddy check a couple of lakes in the minden dorest area yesterday said the ice was very minimal. 2” Thur 3” with snow covering. Said best to wait for another week or so.
