Hey Troopers,
Been a while for me doing any river fishing. Buddy moved up near mouth of Saugeen and has convinced me to get out the river rod.
Question is, how should I rig it as far as line and leader?
He says we will using single egg method.

Buddy is not the most experienced fisherman and is looking to me to help figure it out a bit.

Any advice is always appreciated eh.

I am assuming that you will be float fishing. I normally use 8lb main line. Slid your float on your main line, tie on a small black ant swivel (this is a solid connection to your leader line and also keeps line twist to a minimum) tight your lighter fluorocarbon leader line to the swivel. About 16 inches worth and a lighter pound test than your mainline. If he is using single eggs, you will need to use a very small egg hook to tie to the leader line. Now depending on how fast the current is would dictate how much shot and placement of shot that you put on your mainline. Being he is using single eggs, I would say that it is slow to moderate speed. In this case don't add any weight to the leader line as this will cause a weak point and may scare finicky fish. Keep it as natural as possible.
Hope this helps a bit.

Good luck!

I agree with what the toolman says for single eggs would be looking at rigging bead rigs I prefer a #10 specialist hook for that good liuck

X2 on Toolman and piercer's advice. Saugeen is pretty wide so you may want to get a float that's 7grams and above and judge the shot accordingly with that as well.

Good advice given...river fishing is an art and each river is a different canvas...trial & error will set you in the right direction.
