i saw a report saying this year will be a more typical Canadian winter due to some Portuguese lady names Nina showing up, gosh i hope so, three years ago i was snowmobiling from Cedar point to Christian island and the ice roads was open for cars, last two years it was open water and never froze up at all.

Got into ice fishing end of that season. I remember killing myself trying to hand drill 8" holes in over 24" of ice off willow beach...was insane

ya that was nut i came beck from an install and went out the next day jet legged and almost died lol
that was the last of good ice been @#$% since

Last Friday I had my local power sports company bring me out a new battery for my sled and shrink wrap my boat. There wont be any winter now. Mother Nature hates me.

It's all my fault.

It's a weak polar vortex coming this way. This will be the second one this fall. I hope to see another about the end of January and maybe we can get back to some April ice fishing.

If you look at the long range weather pattern you will see that there will be a below seasonal cool down mid to late December but there is a huge ridge in the jet stream that will likely bring above seasonal temperatures into January.

What goes up must come down. That's why the cold will come down to us. The jet stream will also come back down to bring us more seasonal weather come Jan.

I have a feeling we will be on the ice before Xmas. If we can make enough ice the Jan thaw will have not much of effect . Maybe loose a couple days to let the ice heal it's self but get the extensions out this year. Even the 90 day forecast only shows a dozon days above 0

You should have moved a little further north, last year we had three feet of snow up on Weslemkoon........great for sledding. Mind you the snow came early and insulated the lake so the ice was not he best for ice fishing.

This picture was early in the season, this snow stayed all winter plus a lot more was added to this over the winter.
