I'm overwhelmed with the number of manufactures out there . In your opinion what's the best line out there readily available. Wanting 15 - 20 lb. test for fresh water no ice fishing . Merry Christmas and God Bless .

I use Power Pro.

I like the no stretch--get good hook sets.

Does have a tendency to tangle easily and can be a pain to untangle.

I figure the no stretch factor is worth the aggravation.

i have been using fireline since it come to market, but i have tried the spiderwire, stren braid as well as the nanofil but fireline is still my preferred line for the price. Not sure what you are fishing but 15-20lbs braid is pretty thick and when i stared used braid i went for the heaver line thinking it was like mono, i onlu use 10lbs tops and this works for Lakers, 14lbs walleye, and even 30+ lbs pike. Braid especially the heaver lines tends to be very stiff when new but after a few casts it starts to loosen up, takes me a good couple of trips to get my line exactly the way i like it and the more you use it the better it gets, we only use braid in Bay of Quinte because the line does not float and you can keep your jig deeper without using as heavy jig, also no stretch so hooks sets are almost 1 to 1 in 60 to FOW

Are you going to be putting the line on a spinning reel or bait casting?

I have been using Suffix 832 on all of my casting reels for many years now and love it. I use Fireline on most of my Spinning reels. I find the fireline don't work quite as well on the casting reels for some reason.

try spiderwire easy braid 20lb. affordable. decent quality.

easy braid is the worst braid!! if its the one that comes in the blue package stay AWAY. i used it, it has like a coating of plastic or wax like substance that makes it stiff,

It is so horrible, threw the whole spool out and stripped it off my reel.

power pro is good, but 8 strand braid from china works well,

imo, dont cheap out on braid, why have head aches with backlashes over a couple of dollars lol

I've had zero issues with this line on my stradic spinning reels. i have power pro on my casting reels.

really, if you want to try braid for the first time and you're hesitant about blowing $50 bucks, get the easy braid on sale for $13.

FYI
Braid, lb for lb, is thinner than any mono.

Braid and mono lines float. Fluorocarbon line sinks.

I have used EZ Braid before, 15 lb and it was great for the spinning real. I was able to cast my Rapala 3/8oz Skitter Pop further than any other line. The wax coating is crucial. Helps prevent frays and also helps the line to float on the water by not breaking surface tension.

Still like my Spider Wire though, best price I've seen is at Sail too.

I go 30 or 40lb. on my baitcasters because if you don't putting stress on the line makes it dig into itself and stays there. The heavier line is also easier to control and casts just as far.

Small correction here, Ralph! It's IMPOSSIBLE to untangle, at least with my eyes and my fingers!!. Worth the hassle? Yeah, sometimes.

sorry let me clarify, because i run 8 to 10lbs braid the thinner diameter especially vs 15-20lbs mono makes the the line less floalty when drift jigging in deep water or in fast currents and allows me to use a lighter jig weight vs what i need to keep the jig on bottom vs mono. Floro sinks but i find the floro i have used as main line suffers from way to much memory and becomes spring like when i pop the jig up and i dont like how the jig feels after it hits the bottom and i lift up again, i only use about 3-6ft of floro as leader attached to the fireline and replace this floro leader after every trip because of this memory issue.
