I have a Nordic 8" hand auger. Bought the adapter for the cordless drill. Performs very well. Light weight no gas. And can do about 16 holes on one charge. The blades have been holding up very well and require little sharpening.

Yes!!! I've owned both.
I bet I can cut 3 holes thru any thickness of ice, before a swede bore can cut two. You have two arms working equally, so they tire less, and can maintain more rpm than a single arm cranking around an upper pivot (stationary) hand.
For about the last 6 years, my swede bore resides 15 feet below the surface since 'someone' dropped it through 3" of ice speck fishing Jan 1st.
I was p##### at the time, but I replaced it with a finbore. Some things happen for a reason I guess!

if you are short on funds, do not get the clam conversion kit unless you already have a hammer drill.
costs before tax:
auger $80
clam conversion kit $75
Hammer drill $150
2, 5ah battery for hammer drill $100
that being said, now I have a great auger and a great drill. and spent 500$ on an auger. the sad part is, i actually liked drilling holes in the ice, it was fun and i felt a connection to the ice lol
thats why i always carry the manual handle as well.

What drill did you go with for your Clam plate?
For me, I use a Milwaukee M18 FUEL 725 in-lbs drill to go with for my CLAM plate. Plus, the same Milwaukee M18 (18V) batteries (4.0AH, 5.0AH, 9.0AH) for the drill, with a Milwaukee converter (power source) to convert the battery output to 12V and USB 5.0V at the very same time to simultaneously power both my fishfinder and any and all electronic gadgets that can be powered/charged by USB (such as cellphone, GoPro video camera, hand-held GPS, AM/FM radio, VHF radio, ...)

What drill did you go with for your Clam plate?
went to homedepot on black friday, got a ryobi HAMMER drill, with high torque. I think it had like 600 inch pounds or something like that, i also got 2 x 4 ah batteries!!

I just picked myself up the Fin-bore III 8". Debated between 6 or 8 and figured I used an 8" bass pro the last 2 seasons through 10" at times no problem until the handle broke lol can't wait to drill that first hole.
