I am looking at getting the Black Betty FreeFall model list for $150

1. Is there a recommended lb is so what for fishing multi species, whities - lakers and perch.
2. How much line will the spool handle
3. Is the drag system on this TOP NOTCH - I have read in some other forums posters saying no and also commenting on noisy bearings and when dropping not as precise as it could be.

I got the B BTY 6061 paired with a Fishing 13 tickle stick and love it on the pan fish. But I don't think a $150 In Line Finesse reel that's designed to manage line twist and 1/16 jig heads on supper light line would be my first choice for lakers and whities. For that kind of money you got way better options. Just my two cents.[QUOTE]

you might miss the season waiting for it though.....

BUT it is not $150 and worth buying 2.

Got the eagle claw last year for about ($40), open spool wasn't good for outside, found it hard to use with gloves on (selling mine if anyone is interested).

I got the 13 fishing Cold Gear inline to try this year.

yeah this is not great for outside in a blizzard. I only use it in my hut. much better than a 1:1 fly reel in deep water though

Hey Orangebucket2 ,

Reply to this post so I can pm you , you don't have enough posts yet.

Well , since I'm here anyway, have you noticed any increase in your catch rate or ease in getting the lure or bait down to fish quickly (panfish - perch and crappie mainly) ? The price for aliexpress is certainly good, you sound happy with your purchase.

Thanks for any reply or comment.

I have the rapala concept multiplier inline reel and love the way it functions but I have only had it out twice and have yet to catch a fish with it so I can't report on how well it brings in fish of any size. Hopefully next month!!!

The BIG difference in the Eagle Claws and the 15.00 dollar in lines compared to 13 Fishing’s is the fender they’ve added on the Black Betty’s so your gloves don’t interfere with the drop. I have 3 old Black Betty’s without the fender and they were a PIA. I got a brother in law that’s gonna love me Christmas Day LOL !

Hi Shag

I have always used a fly reel for shallower fishing because it is fun and dosent twist but when you get over 20 ft in depth it is a pain. This one seems great since it is a multiplier. The drag seems ok I havent landed any 15 lb fish with it but if I do I will post it

I dont think I would like it on a dead stick sitting out in a blizzard, it would freeze up (like most reels), but in a hut it is perfect.

Again it is not $150. I have one of these and 2 on order as gifts....1 for me and 1 for a fishing friend.
