Try the self bonding silicone plumbing tape...doesn't leave any marks and ruin your nice cork handles like electric tape does or lose its stickiness getting wet or in cold temps, I've been using it for a few years now on my TUCR's and really like it.

Interesting tip for those using sliding rings for ice rods; There are rubber rings (I think they are intended to be used to hold your rig if you dont have a metal loop on your rod?) that can be used to hold your reel seat. Ive seen them in yellow and black, and it sits nicer than electrical tape!)

Picture of what I was mentioning;

(just trim off the smaller loop)

Just another option is to use friction tape; it stands up longer than electrical. Over time it becomes a rock solid band holding your reel.
And, if you use white, you can write the lb test of the line spooled on the tape..... How many times someone asks what line is on the reel? "Um. It's either 4 or 6 lb test....!"

Longfish: Save your money. Cabela's is only $3.49. Amazon/E-bay can be expensive -- here, 3x the our local price (plus shipping!).
