Dead sticks with Plastics

Hey everyone I’m curious about something. Does anyone dead stick with plastics or tried it? I know they won’t present as well as a live minnow, but as someone that walks out trying to cut down on things to carry.

Well sort of
some days perch seem so in active that once marked on the flasher have to bring a small jig and hold it still infront of them before they barley inhale it.
Those days the guys are saying the perch bite is off are the days they are just softly inhaling and spitting out the bait. without a spring tip and a flasher really tough.

I've had lots of luck with plastics jigging and cast and retrieve but zero dead sticking even with scent. I'm sure others have though.

If you attache a piece of milk carton to the end of your dead (balance) stick the breeze will often give you a nice jigging action. works for me most times.

Bring salted minnows out. They are a good middle ground between plastics and live bait. At least you will have the scent and look which I would say would be better than plastics

I deadstick with scented plastics with good success. Gulp minnows and powerbait honey worms are my favourites.

i wouldnt bother deadsticking with a plastic, i would rather set up a tip up.

I will often dead stick a tube really high in the water while fishing for lakers. I will fish the bottom half of the lake with a active bait and have the tube sitting above the half way mark. A laker normally won't hit a dead stick tube but will come in for a look and that's all you need most of the time.

Caught a lake trout in lake simcoe couple years back dead sticking a white tube. While we were getting the hat ready. Me and my friend reel up both our rod and felt a fish pulling. We were both reeling really hard but my friend told me his gonna reel his fish first. And when the fish got in the hall we notice that it aye both our tube while we were fixing the hat. Awesome catch!!!
