This snow can't be good!, How does this effect our season?

its only 4",,,wont hurt anything......

As ripley mentioned; 4 inchs snow won't matter. Snow will likely blow off existing ice or dissipate in open water.

Big concern is strong winds which peels off any existing ice.

Next 5 days and nights offer some minus 10-19 degree celcius. weather.

Pray for light winds.

down here in Simcoe lake area this snow doesn't matter as the water is still open and snow is melting into it . The smaller lakes slightly north of here that have the half inch of ice or more, the snow is going to suck, even at 4". Mother Nature will throw us the curve balls we are getting used to which means be safe, don't listen to what others say and spud your way out there safely. .....new ice fisherman read a lot of what has been said on this forum over the years and proceed with caution. Lots of great info on here and no question is a stupid question when it comes to safety........just saying.

Checked several lakes today north of simcoe. All with terrible ice. This snow really insulated that thin sheet of ice and hindered its growth. Spudded our way on 3 lakes and could not gonmore than 100 yards out on any of them. One hit of spud ans it went in. This snow is also the worst, the fluffy insulating type

110% this. This 2 years ago (this will be 3rd season out) when I joined taught me a lot of what I know, and I'm sure that's the story for a lot of people, people pay attention to what is posted. Stay safe out there guys, and tight lines!

Agree with all comments above, however its unfortunate that lake simcoe sits right in the middle of the snow belt path with the strong north westerlies bringing heavy squall lines right over simcoe. Here's hoping we get about 6 to 7'' on kemp before mid Jan. Light winds and cold temps will thicken the ice quickly. Hopefully mother nature will co operate. The lakers should be big this year
