It is an interesting article, but I call 🐂💩 on most of it!
Every lake and even different parts of every lake form ice at many different rates, there’s depth of snow, wind on the ice/open water, under ice current, springs, and on and on. This time of year, we just have to make sure we don’t leave common sense at home (if we have any to begin with, some aren’t as fortunate as others in that regard), and maybe wait it out a few more days or if we are gonna check out a lake, do it the smart way, not just by hearing something on the internet and figuring “it’s good to go now”.

Absolutely ×2

All fascinating stuff.
Was just at innisfil beach and the lake looked very calm with a layer of what appeared to be steam floating just above it.
I am guessing that their is still heat being dissipated from the open water that's causing it to steam up.
Pretty awesome to see any way.
Looking forward to a great and safe season for my self and all you guys .
I am hopping to hit oppener this year and it looks like we just might get to fish new years day .

yea, I remember hearing about that.
but technically the ice was still safe, and they still could've kept fishing,

thats a win in my book

This is what I'm hoping for by mid January.
Total freeze.
I apologise in advance if I've offended any one who works outdoors.

Yea you can't always trust other fisherman.

I am a first ice guy and love it I can be out out there with 3 inches or less in the right conditions where others crap them self because they just assume there is more ice.
If you don't know dont go and I know because I do a visual for days before I go it's just better that way I love being a local haha. Then check every step of the way .

Play safe everyone it's coming

Like I said. This is the theory behind it, and that is in optimal conditions. Use your Brain to make your own call. No one is suggesting to get a calculator out punch in some digits and start driving into the lake.
