2 man flip over too hard to pull?, would like advice

so i have a rapala m2 cruzer, i bought it used and the person installed wide runners out of hockey rink material

just wondering if they are too difficult to pull with 1 man, or if 2 people need to pull it. I am debating on make a smitty sled for the flip over, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the flip over, because you will have to take it off and put it back on the smitty once you find a spot

so who ever has a 2 man flip over, can you chime in and let me know how you find pulling the flip over.

just wondering because it feels very heavy and doesnt even have gear in it yet.

They are fine pulling on ice, but once you have snow thats a different story! I converted 3 years ago to an insulated pop up.I am glad i did.Throw everything on a smitty and away i go! Convert is my advice you wont be sorry!Or join the Gym!! Lol

The beauty of a pull over is you can put it on a smitty easily for when your pulling it by hand and when pulling by sled/atv you don't need the smitty. Best of both worlds. I'd replace the runners with downhill skis on a smitty. I'm working on modifying mine adding a carrier for my gas auger. Will post pics when it's done.

I have the same Cruzer and don't have problems pulling it out onto the lake until I hit 6" of snow or slush, then it does become a drag.....literally. Thinking of building a smitty sled myself just to get it up off the ice. They really aren't that heavy. if you have it loaded with gear, remove some of it getting it onto the smitty.....should work just fine for you.

I got a Eskimo Flip Mo 2 Inferno. In snow the thing is tough pulling even with two guys. if your planning on pulling it your self your going to need a smitty or you'll break your back. Trust me been there done that. It only takes a minute to load it up and strap it down,same taking it down. Now you can drag that thing across the lake by your self no problem.

I've got the Clam Nanook 2 man, and like mentioned, its easy to pull on ice. Snow is where it gets tough. The deeper the snow, the harder the go. I added another long rope to wrap around my body which definitely makes life easier. I'm going to look into building a little "smitty" style setup with skiis for the heavy snow days.

Make a Smitty ....my cruiser one man loaded with gear is deadly to pull as soon as there's more than a few inches of snow.

im am getting rid of my flip 2 man just to much for me to pull am buying a pop up this week at the expo.loading and unloading alone just doesn't work anymore for me anyway just my thought.

I like to be prepared for the worst case scenario. As mentioned things you want to have smitty, longer rope and one thing I have found beneficial a proper shoulder harness. Since switching from rope over one shoulder to a harness found the drag on hard days easier.

I have a frabill aegis, it's a 2 man only 60 lbs, I only got it last half of the season, it was harder to pull than my Smitty, but it always seemed to be gliding on top of the snow pretty nicely. I thought that the wide base is maybe helping to spread the weight better.

I mostly fish solo and I like to move, moving the popup is always a pain. My first trip with my pop-up the tie down broke and the whole thing flipped over my with gear inside...was a disaster trying to keep the tent from flying away and gear from falling down the hole... I'm now super paranoid about wind and pop-ups!

I feel you ,I sold my 2 man chappel because it was too darn heavy,attach some skis on the bottom ,or that plastic runner that sell.

I have the 2 man Ageis with seats on trunks and only bring 1 seat so its not too bad to pull being one of the lighter 2 man models, that said i mostly use this with my snowmobile and have the Hyfax runners installed. For mule pulling i also have a 1 man recon and a smittly, this is not bad at all to pull and i just got the harness at Sail for 39$ this year to make things even easier. The pop ups are not great for running and gunning and on super windy days can be dangerous, we helped a guy on Bay of Qunite a few years ago that had his straps break on a super windy day,his hut landed on his 20lbs heater top and it melted/burned part of his hut lucky lots of snow that day as we were able to kick enough to get the fire out, it was pretty ugly. They all have plus and minuses on certain days or ways you like to fish, if i have a bunch of buddies and we are just setting up for the day the pop up is a great option but i always wonder if the fish are biting over there and my 1 and 2 man flips are the preferred way to fish most of the time as i can use them as a wind break and still enjoy the natural light vs the dark pop up and moving 50 feet takes like 30 secs to do with flip overs.

Smitty is the way to go with lots of snow to pull your sled, easier to stay on top of the snow, not dragging the snow with you, to burn yourself out.

thanks for all the help. i settled on just using a smitty, and i plan on taking the flip over off to use.
