Just a heads up for anyone thinking of coming up here this weekend to try to find some lakes to get out on. I haven’t had the time to check any myself this week and was planning to this weekend but we’ve got about 12” of fresh snow today and it’s still hammering down out there. This is a triple bad problem for ice, it’s gonna insulate and stop any further freezing for a while, probably gonna start pushing ice down and slushing things up and the biggest problem is that it does a very good job of hiding any sketchy looking areas!
I’m not going anywhere near the ice for now, and I suggest anyone else maybe think harder about trying to wander very far across any lakes around here for the near future, might save a bit of a drive from down south if you were thinking of coming up ( and the roads are super crap right now too).

This pic is from a few minutes ago, not sure when it’s gonna stop or how much more we’re gonna get but it’s not great if your an ice fisherman

Thanks S.F. for your report. That is very correct, if people dont know the lake , currents underwater springs they should stay off for now! Ive been fishing a small lake south of you and there are areas that do not have very much ice on the lake as of yet due to the heavy snow.Be careful people out there.Proceed with extreme caution or stay off all together if you're not familiar with the lake.

On top of all of this snow, it’s supposed to get warmer next week for a few days. Not enough to totally slush up the lakes so they can freeze real good, just enough to damn near stop all ice making for a while. Be SUPER CAREFUL if you’re not 100% sure about where your going.
