Is the ice fishing expo worth the drive?

Hello all

I am planning on going to the expo on Sunday, but would like any input from the members here that went today. I know its like fishing, I need to go and find out for myself, but I have a 7hr round trip to make it, and would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance

7 hour round trip is a lot. I’d probably skip but that’s me. And I haven’t gone yet. And I’ll be going lol.

Got there at 8:50 then they were late opening the doors, then you buy your ticket, move around the corner to give the ticket back and get a wristband, waste of time there. Got in at 9:15 and by 9:40 going back out the door and that's going around twice. Bought a couple of home made monster sized butter tarts, that's it. Anyone driving more than an hour it's a waste of time. If you want to hear the speakers, they have a bunch of chairs to sit and listen, everyone has their idea of entertainment or stuff to learn, not for me thanks.

Sorry to hear that the show had only 40 vendors and you didn't buy much. BTW I've never heard of anyone using giant butter tarts as bait. What species of fish are you targeting?

With those size butter tarts I could have waited for a Rip van Winkle fish sleeping on the bottom

Remember that this is the first year for the expo. 40 vendors and a big turnout is pretty solid. If we dont support it now, it wont have an opportunity to grow.

My experience was quite diff---went mid-aft, no line-up, busy but not crowded. Quite interested in the little shelter that I posted don the other thread.

Of course there were the usual temptations---rods, reels, lures etc.

Is if possible for u to post the little shelter here?

I agree with Steve. Put mics on either side of the stage so people can ask there questions. Or repeat the question before talking about it so everyone knows what is being discussed.

Not worth it in my opinion. Same prices at your local tackle shops. I drove 2 hours one way to see what all the hype was, it was on the small side. Wish they had more vendors but hey this is the first year in operation. There will be lots of feedback I'm sure. It'll only grow in size as the years go on

The show is fantastic! Very informative seminars, excelent selection of tackle and gear. My son and I spent 5hrs there today, and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Great job on the 1st year!!

I thought the seminars were worth the 7 dollars. The butter tarts looked huge I wished I hadn't just eaten a big breakfast. If we don't go and support it they won't be able to keep having it .

Ya it was a little in the small side and we were in and out in about an hour. But i still say totally worth the trip up from london. We talk to some great people saw some cool stuff entered some draws good times for sure. And we went ti cabelas for a bit. Hopefully it grows it seemed like there was a lot of support hope there is as much support next year.
