for days where I concentrate on fishing (no time to cook, fishing #1 priority) (no proane cooker) (packing light)

- sandwiches, bagels, trail mix, beef jerky.

If I have time the night before/or in the morning,

-rice/soup stew in thermos
-coffee tea in thermos)

a family day on the ice, (propane cooker) (fishing can be good or bad, wont matter)

-Ramen noodles!!
-sausages (Brats), rice, beans, chili (reheating)
-FISH FRY!! using fish caught on the ice, key is to bring oil in a water bottle, and use a bag for your flour mix, the fillets go into the bag, and you shake the bag to bread the fillets!!

what is everyones go-to meals for different scenarios. Im looking for ways to have as little trash/mess to deal with, and nutritous food to keep one fishing. Thanks

Nothing like a good ole thermos of hot soup unless your lucky enough to get the real early bite and have some nice panfish.

My diet while ice fishing is dried and smoked meats like sausage , bacon and prosciutto. I also bring cheese and crackers I find this meal always keeps me full along time and gives me the energy needed for the mission . No cooking involved all sliced up and ready to eat .

Nothing fancy. Just a sandwich, granola bars and lots of coffee in the thermos.

On most days on ice, it's just sandwiches and beef jerky for me, plus hot tea in thermos.

If I intend to cook on ice, I'd then cook whatever I could think of, literally. I even did a few times pan-fried dumpling (jiaozi, gyōza) on ice...

I always bring some leftovers from the fridge. I brew coffee right on the ice. This year I will be bringing soup with me.
