Made out first trip out there this morning one of many I hope. Our group fished North, south, east and as far west as we could. Turned the area into swiss cheese. Ice is not good at all. Some areas south had as much as 5 inches the further out we got the thinner the ice was. First hit with the spud and it went through. Snow on top is preventing any ice build up.
As far as fishing went... Simcoe is in good shape for future generations. It's a nursery out there. Biggest perch we caught was maybe 8 inches. Used grubs, minnows, beaded spoons you name it, we tried it. We even tried out that bubble ball baitcloud stuff. fizzed for 20 seconds and gone. This product is crap. It actually scared the fish away every time we dropped it in. Save your money, don't buy that bath bomb!
Water clarity is clear as always. We will be waiting for the deep freeze and deep water to try out later in the year! Tight lines and stay warm and dry everyone.

Thanks for report!
Had a similar experience at VB yesterday: got skunked))
Found only one sketchy spot, easily avoidable with proper spudding.

Thanks for the update!! I'm hoping the rain might help melt some of this snow so the ice can get back to growing strong
