helix 7 gen2 gps nav or a marcum lx6, 2 choices help plz

so i know its all peference but i dont own a unit. using it more for ice but might use it in the summer. i know going with the helix would work summer/winter. but what yall think. i feel like i can get a better bundle price for the helix.

IMO the helix is much more versatile as just as accurate.

anybody know if they ever go on boxing day sales?

i feel as though the time of year it wouldnt be smart lol

Usually they start to come out with there new modals by mid January and some of the older stock starts to get blown out at some great prices. Go talk to one of the sales reps at one of those big box stores, you may get some good info as far as sales and promotions go in the next few weeks.

I own a gen 1 helix 7 and I love it although the gps is starting to get a bit ######y ( takes a while loading charts now for some reason ). Bottom zoom is great and it also has a flasher setting although I’m sure not as good as a dedicated flasher.

while i love my Marcum LX5 and probably the biggest reason I got into ice fishing, i made the switch to the Helix 7 for this year after doing a bunch of comparative research. My original intent was upgrading to a LX7 or LX9 to get sonar graphs but ended up narrowing down to Lawrence and Hummingbird. I have a Humminbrid 788ci in the boat and its been a great unit for 10 years so i decided to go with them again. That said i am keeping the LX5 as back up and when i bring non hardcore friends fishing i have an extra unit, flashers work i have landed boat loads of fish all thanks to my flasher but i feel i'm ready for the next step

I will be trying my Helix 10 chirp for ice this season......guessing it will work great......I have it attached above my ATV handle bars to drive to spot I want.....then after verifying by drilling hole.....will remove it from ATV and take it into the clam where I have made a clamp for it on one of the bars.....should work awesome. I used it all spring and summer and fell in love with it.

Biggest complaint so far with the Helix is they burn through Batteries very fast, sometimes in as little as 4 hrs if it's cold. If you turn down the brightness you may get 8hrs. The flasher is also sub-par to an actual Marcum or vexilar flasher, do some research if your going the Helix route, so far I've seen lots of dudes going back to their original flashers, they just are not impressed with having to carry couple of extra batteries out on the ice only to fish with a sub-par flasher.

My choice would be a new Marcum M5 lithium, the new lithium shuttle is a sweet accessory, lots of great small features went into this product. Then again I'm a flasher guy, not into the graphs for ice fishing
