I am looking into doing some steel heading as I think I have fairly exclusive shore access to the Nott, I am aware of the 250 m north of the damn and south is a sanctuary.

What I am not clear on is does that leave north of that line for steelhead year round?

Also as I havent fish the nott much is it likely that I will catch other species, I have seen a couple of bass caught out of the river I am not sure how common that is

From the book of rules:
Nottawasaga River - Essa Twp.,
waters lying within Lot 1, Conc. V,
from Hwy. 89 above Nicholson Dam
downstream to near the confluence
of the Boyne River.
Fish sanctuary - no fishing from
Jan. 1 - Fri. before 2nd Sat. in May &
Oct. 1 - Dec. 31.

Nottawasaga River - from the Boyne
River downstream (north) to the Pine
River.
Rainbow Trout S - 0 and C - 0.

So it's closed right now from the dam to Nott/Boyne.

thanks again for selling me the jacket!

Thats what I saw. So if I read that right then I could fish past where the boyne meets(which is directly above the damn) year round if there is open water for panfish/pike(I wouldnt during iceifishing) and then for the seasons of salmon and trouts I would be safe.

I now have exclusive access to at least the west side the river above the damn basically right on that edge of where one can fish. I have yet to figure out steel-head or salmon so it could be the best or the worst spot and it might not matter anyway!
