Ryobi hammer drill question

Hey guys, i got a buddy who just got the clam drill adapter after seeing mine, he has the Ryobi 18v lithium combo with hammer drill, just wondering if anybody has experience running this drill on the ice and how does the battery perform? how many cuts do you get. I'm not too optimistic as i watched my brothers Ridgid hammer drill look like a toy compared to my M18 fuel and did maybe 6 - 8 cuts before the battery pooched.

Ive used mine for 3 yrs now with a 18v ridgig ..Cuts fine on a six inch auger bit.Get at least 12 holes on a 1.5amp battery. Mind you ice hasnt been the thickest last couple years!

Had a Ryobi for one trip. It wasn’t the hammer drill model but it was crap. 350 inch lbs of torque. They wouldn’t even list the torque rating I had to research it on line.

The new hammer drill model has 600 inch lbs so it should do fine for the torque but the battery quality will remain to be proven on your outings.

As per usual I would expect you will get what you pay for.

yeah i watched a couple of youtube videos of the ryobi drills in action and i'm not very confident this will work well and defiantly not something i would buy/use; looks like they had the same issue i experienced with the Rigid drill constantly cutting out and getting stuck in the hole. If I was lucky I'd get 3 holes per battery. I use the drill all the time at home though! Not a total loss.

Don't think a Ryobi drill is anywhere remotely close to a Milwaukee M18 FUEL drill:-)

I doubt the Ryobi will have a ton of power, especially if the batteries aren’t too big, but I’m sure it’ll drill a few holes at least. I have a rigid, part of a 18v combo kit I’ve used for work damn near every day now for 5+ years. Tried it out last year with just the auger bit (not the clam adaptor) and a 6” auger and I chewed through over 20 holes in 14” of ice and still had over half a battery left. Got the clam plate this year so it should be even better ( at least less awkward anyway ).
