Ice Fisherman's Poem ❄️🎄
I used to wonder what brings us outside,
To tread through the snow with a purposeful glide.
Navigating reckless through winter’s harsh breath,
And the powder so deep that you drown in its depth.
What vision what purpose swing in our heads!?
That lead us to ice from the warmth of our beds.
Now I know that the secrets that lie deep beneath,
Are far more majestic and defy all belief.
It’s trout, salmon, perch that lurk in the dark,
Whose challenge way bigger than the blizzard’s fierce bark.
Determined men disrupt the silence around,
They put themselves to task on this sacred crystal ground.
The echo of augers roars long through the ice,
And the magic black weapon is withdrawn for the fight.
The shapes of our challengers appear on the screen,
They hide on the bottom where it is still green.
The fish strikes like lightning from the depths of the drink,
And we feel the power of our opponent’s fierce strength.
Reel up! Don’t quit! Shout the fellows around,
As everyone stares at the hole in the ground.
The adrenaline and heat rush so fast from inside,
That no one feels the chill coming up from the ice.
Here she is, they can see now the tail and the fins,
And proudly we grab her, celebrating our win.
The excitement and passion for winning the fight,
This will make for a great story by the campfire tonight.
The astonishing beauty that words can’t explain,
A kiss and release, I shall see you again…
