In my latest issue of Great Lakes Angler magazine there is an article about the effectiveness of using black lures trolling for salmon at low light or in the dark.

If you are jigging in 100fow on Simcoe with ice and snow on top, how much light is getting to the bottom of the lake?

Has anyone ever tried black lures? Results?

I might have to try it this Winter.

Werner, thanks for the input.

Are you talking trolling or jigging or both?

Ralph, I do the same. 70 to 90 feet I use blue and from there it is purple and black. Sometimes I will try to make a little noise and vibrations.

My thinking is if they are below the lure then it would prolly work great....but the reverse if they are above the lure.

Both...

But don't let that be all in the arsenal.

Nothing like white on clear blue bird days
