Park at a car pool and use uber!

Agree, I was thinking the same. You can drop all gears and your pal/pals at the beach drive to a carpool and ride an uber back.
Where there is a will there must be a way. Resident parking is a BS, just bunch of clawns sitting on a council seats and make decisions for us fishermen, restricting our access to the water and doing what we all love to do.
Maybe they plan on turning us to a couch potato, assimilation process? Sorry for ranting, just p##### off like many of you guys.

Tight lines

I believe residential only parking is a violation of Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Every Canadian has a right to travel and nobody shall forbid parking anywhere. IMHO you can charge for parking if you want, but anybody should be able to park in any public parking lot in Canada. If we go down this road we'll end up with no access to public water for no residents...

I travel solo quite often so unfortunately, that option is not available. I travel far enough that I don’t even mind paying parking. I just wish whatever (littering/ council/ condo development) caused this could be reversed. There are still people in this world that enjoy staying active and doing outdoor activities that don’t involve wifi! It’s quite unfortunate

That really sucks for Barrie, we would visit at least once a week always stopped in at Wimpys for breakfast, usually hit up bait bucket and always spent more then I went in for, and usually stop in some where like the Kensington for a bite to eat on our way out always paid for parking and this is the thanks we get. I really hope this is not the case. Someone at the city needs to give they're head a shake!

You are probably right but it will take some effort to overturn this trend. At the moment the area residents went to there local representatives and enacted regulations for their own benefits. Your recourse go to the provincial representative that oversees municipal affairs to resolve the issue.
However think a faster way is to use the power of public opinion.
Wonder if a news crew like City Pulse would feature this problem.
Everyone is selfish however no one wants to be labeled as such.
To clarify I'm not opposed to pay parking.
Just the elimination of resident parking passes and just for resident parking.
Fee parking the same for everyone with equal access to all.

Anyone know who the MPP is for Barrie? If everyone here sent a letter we may be able to reverse this. It's a dangerous precedent for the whole shoreline of the lake. I'm with most on here and don't mind paying for parking. No entry goes too far

Sounds like some discrimination going on. Man do they have Trump working in office up there.... Wonder how much crap would happen if they didn't let non residents launch or park anywhere along lake Ontario. Don't think there is much difference...

I think that is a great idea. Get a News station out there and put the people making these decisions in front of a camera and explain to the public the theory behind these decisions. It would really be nice to here what the rest of the Province has to say about this.

Damn....it's Georgina/Keswick all over again. Do you guys remember when I got WRITTEN permission from THAT town to park in one of their lots...just to see a group of my friends ticketed the NEXT week. Guys I SENT up there because we had PERMISSION to park in that lot!!!!
We have spread the word WIDE and FAR that Keswick is CLOSED to the "unwashed masses" summer AND winter and have steered dozens of people away from Georgina/Keswick because we are NOT wanted.

Maybe I’m mistaken. But on another board it was shown u can buy a pass as a non resident. $90 I believe. So if u all fish in Barrie so much and regularly pay for Parking at $15 a day this is paid in 6 trips. I don’t fish in Barrie anymore because of the parking and crowds but if I did I would pursue this if it’s accurate. This way you could park by marina, minets or Johnson’s.

yes the website says you can buy a parking pass for $90 but there is a new sign there says resident parking only! that says no non-residents. confusing!

Indeed confusing: The new sign there says that parking lot is for Barrie resident only! I mean if I could buy a Year 2018 Barrie Resident Parking Permit for say $90, I am still NOT a Barrie resident, and as such I still can not park there anyway!:-)
