When you mention "massive"; what would you guess the length and weight to be?
I personally believe there is a small number of sturgeon still left in the lake. I am not skeptical of what you saw in the least.

That is great news to hear. I'm on lake sturgeon in the Kawarthas, and always wonder if there could be some of that species in this lake......If they are in simcoe......its possible

Im thinking of heading to simoce tomorrow......getting the itch for some Jumbo perch.....and I haven't quite figured out Sturgeon lake ice fishing yet.

Will keep an eye out for a sturgeon

As stated, I only caught the last half of it, as I had to turn around to my buddies yelling, and initially thought he meant just a tank of a perch when he said " There's a damn shark or something here". The portion I saw was roughly 2 feet long, Id estimate the fish to be between 3.5 to 4.5 feet myself. Is definitely a story ill be telling for a long time!

This one was through the ice in Nipissing a few years ago. 2013.

Been a while since I've seen that picture...
