I fished Willow 8am-12pm today. Weather was challenging but the perch were cooperative. Est 6-7 inches of ice in the 3 locations I fished. Not much snow on the ice once you get out there but was snowing when I left. Slab grabber & simcoe bug tipped with small minnow worked.

Nice. Any issues with cracks or soft spots? Planning on going out tomorrow (Willow perchin), but wanted to get an update on any hazzards as i’ll be walking out by myself. Cheers, Rob

I may be late by...There were some cracks but tight. No soft spots. I didn't mention in my post that the first few hours out were very noisy with booming, cracking and some shaking. The sound that freaks some people out but usually means making ice.

Well got out this morning at Willow. Dead quiet, no one else out at perch grounds. Saw 7 or 8 quads and sleds out further. A couple of 1’ pressure cracks closer to shore but they are frozen over. Managed to hand drill one hole (man my blades suck) and decided to open air fish. Well within 10 minutes the wind har picked up huge and it was damn cold. About 20 minutes in had 2 big thumps (bent the rod right over) but missed both. Then caught a 10” perch and called it a day. 40 mins fishing, but didnt get skunked. Cheers all Rob
