Hello members. I dont post much here but I do browse from time to time. I was thinking about taking my wife with me fishing to Simcoe for 2 or 3 days. I was thinking about staying on the ice for the 1 or 2 nights. It will be the first time I get out there, I am not from the area and have no idea where to start. I have been looking through different boards and there are so many outfitters. I guess my question should be, are there any I should avoid? Also how would I go about trying to catch muttiple species? Id really like to get some whitefish and lake trout and then round out the trip with some perch to take home. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

I only ever did overnight once on SImcoe and it was tough. The huts are really just day huts with a lengthier cushion to 'sleep' on. Unless I am mistaken there aren't really true sleeper huts on Simcoe (this could have changed in the 3-4 years since I tried).

Unless someone corrects me above and there is an outfitter with real sleeper huts/ice bungalows, my thought would be either Nipissing (lots of sleeper huts there) or Muskoka (much closer but smaller number of sleeper hut outfitters you need to search out).

Tim Hale's... Sleept many many nights in his huts with no problem's. Just be realistic it is a ice hut and some are built better then others for staying over night... Tim's is great for a night or two and with that being said I've never found any ice fishing bungalow/hut that's perfect for sleeping.. The ones that have no problems are the guy's who drink themselves to sleep.. Lol..I won't mention any names as it would be quite a long list. Until the trout and whitefish grounds are open perch is the only option but there's always a chance for something else to bite ... Cheers FM..

I've never done the overnighter, but I'm booked for one on Jan 24 with Bear Point. They've got a bunch of new huts for this season and they look great!

All I need is a wide enough bench to sleep on, my expectations aren't too high. I was thinking of fishing towards the end of the week, Thursday and Friday, I figured with the weather there would.be good ice and lake trout would be an option. Maybe I should wait a bit more?
