I was thinking of going the same route with a 5lb propane tank, compare to caring the 1lb bottles, and lugging a 20lb tank, l know some CT care them for $50 which that size never go's on sale, does anyone know where to pick one up for less then $50, l'm in the Toronto area?
There's a post in the buy and sell. There's a place in Bradford that sells refurbished tanks
Although cheaper would check first if the refurbished tank can be refurbished once it hits its expiry date. At least with new can revalued would be interesting to know.

I run 10' line...only because i need the 10 fter for another application....no reg but i might buy that filter seeing the other comment on lines...have you been able to find a 5lb? I could only find 11 or 20, and if its not a 20 its twice the price, atleast mine was, i also needed it in a hurry and didnt look around
I purchased a 5lb manchester tank from Canadian Tire. They also had an 11lb tank which is just as wide as the 20lb so no point.
The tank does not come purged so had to get that done, then have it filled.
The Mr.heater hose is sold for 32.99 at pricessauto

I just picked up a 5lb tank and the 5’ adapter hose at Canadian tire, didn’t even think about getting a filter until reading this post , has anyone ran theirs without the filter for a few seasons with no issues ? Would rather not dish out more money for a filter

This is the correct hose for the buddy heater's... Running with out ac filter may not mess u up right away but it will eventually.. If your like me and like to keep your equipment for a long time trouble free then you need the right hose.. Regulator is already built into the buddy heater's so one is not needed... Here's the link again and remember if it's not s plasticizer free hose then it needs a filter..

After buying a tank your next trick is to find a place to fill it that isn't a complete rip off. fewer and fewer places are refilling propane these days and a ton that do want to just charge a flat fee forgetting the size of your tank. Place closest to where I live wanted $17 to fill my 5 pounder when I took it there! I laughed at them and left. Should be $3-5 to fill depending on where you go if they aren't ripping you off.

What exactly is plugging up the heater? I use a 5lb tank for my camping stove with a 6ft adapter hose. Had no issues. Someone mentioned black oil. What causes the oil that fouls the heater?
