ohhhh buddy, I would have had a heart attach if I was in that hut.

He probably set it there to fish the crack.

You can see his holes on the other side of the crack, crack opened up right under him.
He's gonna need a new floater suit after that one.

yeah that looks a little rough there eh . I was at the mouth of the bay and the ice was pounding and moving all morning. Good solid 5 to 6 inches of clear clean ice. fishing was decent to with 2 whiteys caught. might be best to leave her a couple more days with that cold snap again should tighten her back up again.

I'm sure the wind forecast might have kept some home and off the ice..

I'm only 5 min drive from BP and been snowing for a while now. Could be very dangerous if those cracks get covered

Good to meet you out there thanks for the help across. That's was some scary stuff. Dumped like 8 inches and made the walk back in a mess. Hidden cracks all over, hut was snowplowing took me 1.5 hours to walk back in less than 1 km. Spud bar was the hero today.

Is it normal to get pressure cracks out there every year?

I've spent many seasons on the ice, but that would've puckered my cheeks if it'd been my hut LOL. I've had them open up around me on a number of occasions but never a good one right under me!

I had two friends that went to BP. Said they heard cracks right from the crack of dawn. They left at 10 when they felt the ice move to much for their liking. Glad I stayed home today
