Was there today with the wife and kids. 2.5 hours 4 pike one would have been big enough to fillet if you were so inclined. Only had room for the wife and kids in the hut so left with some nice marks still on the sonar, the wind was ridiculous lol. No complaints we had a good time and had some action, minnows were key, talked to some guys who had no minnows and the also caught no fish.

I haven't even given that lake a thought in years, but, my bud's girlfriend ice'd a beauty 9 lb'r Fri. Released along with 4 hammers.....starting to think about jigging a big gulp for a couple hrs between the Lads games.

mark panther - agree there are not many large pike in the lake but there are a few in the swim.

A healthy 9lb pike should be about 33" in length. I have measured and seen released 2 fish out of that lake in the 37-38" range in 25 years of ice fishing there. Nothing that size in the last 15 years but the odd 6-8lb fish.

Your chances of catching one are about the same as finding a silver quarter in your change

This post peaked my curiousity so I headed out with a friend to belwood today, let me tell you "momma belwood" was a "cruel mistress" today !

Walked out in the AM , moved 5 times in 6hrs and not even a bite.

Was set up on shoals with mavioncs , fishing in anything from 40 fow to 9 fow. The water is ultra murky so the Aqua-vu camera was useless, and we didn't mark anything on the flasher either. We covered about 1.5km of the lake. There were about 12 huts out and everyone we talked to hadn't got a bite either, which is a shame b/c I was hopeful of pulling a few winter walleye threw the ice as I did alright with walleye there the couple of times I fished it in the summer.

Really the only positive thing to say is the lake had lots of ice on it 16"

Bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Just curious if you used minnows? When I went early in the season anyone without live bait caught nothing.

I always use a lure tipped with a minnow. Works every time for me.
