Quad question for experienced guys

Being that it's my first year with a quad and not too experienced. Will there be any issues taking the quad and getting stuck out on Cooks Bay or Willow now we have had these mild days? Want to head out tomorrow.

Anythings possible, I bring a folding shovel (metal, not plastic junk) and a metal bar I can make an anchor point for self winching to get out of a slushy spot. usually if you stick to well beaten trails you should be ok.

I got stuck last week and drilled a hole ahead of the quad, put the winch cable around a hammer then through the hole and used the hammer as a cross brace. Not sure if that explanation makes sense but it saved my butt on a really cold day. Got out pretty easy, a little terrified but I got out.

Oh its possible,chains help.I went out once and didn't get 100 yds from shore, you will know if you can make it or not.

Thanks. The anchor i made is a 16" piece of pipe with an eyebolt in the middle for a sling to the winch line much like your hammer suggestion. I also put a piece of rope on one end so it will be easy to remove because the rope will let it hang vertically for removal. Cheers.

Most likely will get stuck a time or two. The slush and drifts can sneak up in a hurry sometimes. But looks like on right track for getting out

Welcome to the quading on ice! I usually also bring two 2 foot pieces of wood (or longer) in case you need to pass any pressure cracks.

Just wait till a few years from now. You can probably fly your self with a mega drone. No walking on ice, no noise on the ice.

When thrillhouse and i have his quad out we bring the trifold ramp from the truck and sfrap it to the rack for crossing cracks or even getting out of the slush.
