Has anybody ever ice fished for night time Crappie on Rice Lake? Wondering if it is worth giving it a shot or just stick with early morning or the evening fish.

Unless it picks up when it's truly dark, I probably would do late aft/dusk and head in. I hate packing up when it's too dark anyway.

That's what I was kinda thinking. I usually head out before daylight while the family is still asleep but I am thinking of trying the late afternoon into dusk fish this weekend. I am thinking about going up by Harwood, good location or waste of time?

In my experience if your not getting them before sundown by the bucket full you aren’t getting them in the real dark .just my experiences though to each their own

Harwood looks amazing on Navionics but I only caught dinks there last year with the exception of a few walleye. I still think it should be better along the breaks, there are some nice depth contours there.

I was thinking the same thing when I seen that area on Navionics, doesn't get much better than that. I am still going to give it a try early Saturday morning. Hopefully it is not too windy and I can move around and try various depths.

Tried the Morning 8 am to Noon yesterday with only 3 tiny perch caught and released. Returned for evening bite of 4pm to 6 pm. One 5 inch Crappie caught at 5pm. Auuuugh ,, Still 6 inch of snow with slush for walking. Around a inch of water comes out of auger hole due to snow weight.

Thanks for the info. I am heading out this weekend, either Saturday or Sunday evening. Going to try out by Harwood, never tried there before.

Used to limit out on crappie out or gorski's on scugog a few years ago, but get FA in the last 3 winters, odd. Bewdleyabout 300 feet out from rhinos at about 12 feet I've caught crappie in the evening, waiting to get the word that they are be caught at least a few at a time haha, id love to get out for some crappie soon! I got to the point where I never even used minnows, just white micro jigs, deadly.
