I'll just start this off by saying that odds have not been in my favour, while fishing boq. A buddy and I have gone 3 times in different areas of the boq with no walters breaching our welcoming holes. So we decided to try our luck with another kick at the can. Got there Saturday morning at 620 roads were terrible. Hit the worst patch of black ice on the 401 that I've ever encountered. Thank god for fast and furious Tokyo drift instructional dvd lol. We spudded our way out of big bay due to the mild temps and rain. Made it to our spot and marked maybe ten big fish but couldn't tease them off bottom. Got back to the cabin we rented and ate some lunch and decided to fish out from of county shores campground(where we stayed) same thing as the morning marking fish but no takers at sundown my buddies rod got assaulted but he was asleep at the wheel and missed it. This morning was a different story.Went back to big bay and as we got close to the spot we have marked on navionics And noticed to our displeasure someone was on it. Well early bird gets the worm so we pulled out our phones and spotted a different drop off. We fish for an hour and ahalf watching prime time slip away fishless once again. Until a nice mark comes on my buddies flasher and takes a go at his bait. Unfortunately no hook set. Not even a minute later I pick him up on my screen get him off bottom and fish on. Put up a good fight my buddy came with the assist to pull it out and the rest is history. Big celebration followed by a nice release to allow someone else to catch. No scale handy but measured out to be 28"'a PB for me. From the growth rate charts we estimated it was 8-9 pounds.
