First time out on the ice alone without a hut oporator. Finally gathered all the gear, and ventured off onto the ice. my first time alone i was pretty nervous, seein the ice crack as i screwed in the anchors to my ice hut lol. Even tho there is a foot of ice i was still chicken to walk far out . Newbie ice fisherman here. Anyone else nervous their first time?

There's nothing to get nervous about as long as you do your homework check the ice with a spud bar as you go out and have a survival floater suit with ice craws if you fall in the water.

I remember my first time putting in the anchors and know what you mean lol. There's no reason to be nervous if you do your homework and go out when it's safe. Always be cautious though, I always am!

You should have nothing to worry about there, its a conservation area they won’t let u on any area of ice that are unsafe ice? So did u catch any hammer handles?

I get a little nervous first ice every season, because you don’t really know how the ice is the first time out. And I NEVER FISH IN MY POP UP until I’ve been on the ice a half dozen times or so and it’s 5 or 6” thick. If you fall through while sitting in a pop up you might as well let the water fill your lungs and get it over with cause there’s no getting out in that situation.
