What better way to spend a day on the ice than with your daughter grandaughter and a couple of fine board members.
Its been a year since the daughter and the young one joined me on the ice , man does time go quick as it just flew by since our last ice experience together.Lake X was the daughters choice as we targeted the voracious Speckled Pike. She would not be disappointed as it took all of about a half hour to notch her first pike of the season. The day day continued with me landing several perch but

a big fat zero on the target species that being walleye, PIKE or Crappie!
The daughter was able to knock off a couple of more pike with a little help from the old man who gracefully handed over his rod to her on one occasion when a pike committed! Lol
The grandaughter also got on board with a couple of perch in between while viewing a movie on her moms cell phone.Thank God for electronics! Lol
We shared the area with #1 board member himself (Metalbuckle) Jerry and a fine couple , also forum members Nicole and her husband Glenn. They were the last on the ice in our little group and first to leave yet still managed three pike between them!Nice talking with you two again. And Jerry its always a pleasure!
As for the Daughter, well what can i say when she out fishes her Dad? Thats just the way it goes! TOMORROW'S ANOTHER DAY!As for the Granddaughter, well shes focusing on the electronics! Lol
Have a Crappie day).Which i did on lake Y the previous day but thats another story! Lol

Great post, sounds like a fun day! I'm quite familiar with these speckled pike..... are the speckles only on the skin? Just wondering for when I come across them again, I really like to eat pike, but not speckles lol. Also I must add, you really seem to constantly ice some serious fish, nice work!

It was nice to see your again Dale and as always, a fun time. Lots of laughs, some of those stories........ LOL

Anyways, it's like DB said, the girls put on a clinic, and I was pretty much skunked all day. Glenn also caught 3 nice pike and Nicole caught some perch. I wasted my whole day playing with my new Fish TV. Took be about 30 minutes to figure it out and get it pointed to my minnows, but once I did, I watched fish on the TV all day.. Perch would come in and peck at my minnows, actually watched one perch steal my minnow.. LOL

I though I saw a walleye early in the morning, saw a dark fish with white tip fins swim along the bottom, but it was some distance away and identification was inconclusive. I did see some pike swim by, one actually looked right at the camera... But most of the day I watched my minnows swimming around the screen..

Eventually after everyone left and I stayed for the evening bite, I saw a pike swipe my minnow in the camera, seconds later my bobber goes down and fish on... Got one!

I then started packing up and shut off the camera.. Put my hut away and all my gear and just left the lines in the water. Just before calling it quits, I jigged the line with the minnow, boom --- bobber goes down and this was now after 4pm, hoping it was walleye.. Nope, another pike.. O well still lots of fun and great day out...

It was good to get out with some great members, as always a pleasure..
