Going to try my luck in the harbour before work tomorrow. First time for me, anybody been out this season?

From what I have heard, there a real mixbag of species cruising in and out.

Caught a few decent jumbos there on saturday after noon. But i have also heard of wallies being caught as well as pike. Also so someone pull a bass through the ice saturday

I didn't make it out Tuesday, but am going to try my luck tomorrow. Probably head down around 8-1 or so and try to map out some spots on the navionics that look enticing. Thinking minnows, and a jig line.

See how she goes!

do people even keep any fish out of Hamilton harbor? Ive never fished it and ive heard my sister say (who used to do electrofishing for the DFO) that they would find carp with holes in their sides, disformed, missing fins, etc.

Worked in the Steel Company for thirty-two years and would not keep anything caught in the harbour or that vicinity of Lake Ontario. Just sayin'!

Would have to agree. Would not eat anything out of there. Would just fish for fun there.

I fish it all the time in the summer and sometimes keep small rainbows and salmon, nothing wrong with them as far as I can tell!
Edit: out in the lake I meant never fished the harbour

Try FireTiger buckshot,Gold Swedish Pimple,Gold Cleo all tipped with minnows. Also try Jigging Raps,

There must be some nice fish in there. Make sure if you catch anything you post some pics.

Thanks. Be safe and good luck.

I recommend drop shotting bud. i was using minnows on the bottom and like a little banana looking maggot about a foot up and i kept getting hammered on the maggot not the minnows. we did catch a couple on the minnows but the little banana maggot looking thing seemed to be the key there. We were in about 25-30fow

Went down to the Bayfront this morning. Nobody else out at the time, but saw some old holes around. Picked a spot and fished for about an hour or so. Realized my GoPro was not with me... Packed up in a hurry and retraced my steps back to the truck, And it's gone.... Pretty sure I left it on display right on the back of my truck. 100% My own fault but just sucks that it got scooped right off my truck. Not the way I was hoping to spend the day.

Hoping a kind soul picked it up and it makes it back to me somehow.
