Well, I finally found them. Had to keep the 2 smaller ones because they swallowed the hook. Zone 15, and not fins were clipped. Also rigged up my old fish finder to check out the depth and if anything was down there. Plugged into the 12V socket on the quad and it worked like a charm. 10.3" of water. Great day on the lake with my brother.

Fish finder rig. Rough but it worked. After hearing all the comments about lost rods, I tied some para cord to the rod and rod holder...just in case...LOL

Buddy not for anything you could of just cut the line and the fish would survive those are to small many splake they don t clip their fins anymore a fish that doesn t reproduce.Give them a chance to get a bit bigger.My two cents sorr for being straight forward.

I did a quick search and found following study on releasing fish with hooks still in them. It's good to learn something new and it was done here in Canada on pike but should be good for all fish. Hooks are cheap and quick to replace.

VERY interesting read! I say keep the splake you catch if you want.. again its a put and take fishery. If you want to eat them go for it, but if you want to catch it in a few years after its matured send it on back. Personally if I'm fishing for splake and am having little luck I would have kept those fish for sure, but if I was doing quite well catching them I'd only keep a couple bigger ones. Cheers!
