Looking for a new flip over hut, just wondering if anyone has the otter xt cabin, and if it is to heavy to pull out walking, or is it manageable. Thanks in advance.

I have the xt pro lodge, which is slightly bigger(22sq ft vs 30). it's 124lbs (plus gear) and no fun to pull by hand, awesome shelters but really need a machine to pull it.
I'd probably stay away from otter altogether if you don't have a machine really. if you do, go with the lodge over the cabin, those 8 extra sq feet really make a difference!

I bought the XT cabin a couple months ago, got it 90% assembled but been using the clam, I’ve heard good things about the Otter huts, I got an ATV to pull it tho, wouldn’t be fun pulling by hand in deep snow I’m sure.

That's what I was thinking, I do have an atv, which is usually fine for Simcoe, but I like to fish some smaller lakes but due to snow cover I am usually walking because I don't have a snowmobile. Do you guys with the xt Lodge think that it wouuld pull any easier with a Smitty sled if you were walking?

I have an Otter flip over that I haul by hand out to all the spots I can manage. The best thing I did was add a small frame to the bottom with skies (smitty sled just smaller). The flip over and all the gear pulled about 50% easier. Let surface area = less friction
I don't have the space or room for a ATV or snow machine so this was the solution as I needed to more to follow the Perch.

Hopefully this help.
Enjoy family day, I know ill be out there.
I modified my smitty for my otter but by the time you add all your gear it's pushing the 200lb Mark. That's a lot out weight by leg power. I'm in my 60's and in fairly good shape but it's a killer pulling it. Yesterday I walked out to my buddies hut pulling my smitty with 70lbs of gear and through a foot of snow it was taxing lol. For a young buck in decent shape it might be Ok but I'd say the jury is out on that one.

I just saw a rapala two man flip at Cabelas today in Barrie. $549.00 I believe. Looks alright,, a split bench inside. Decent fishing space & only weighs 80 lbs. (according to the box)
My one man recon flip weighs in at 40lbs,,, which is great IMO.
