Hey just curious what everyones view is on split ring and swivel color? Im thinking of replacing all the split rings on all my casting spoons (little cleo and ko wobblers) from there default stainless steel split rings to the same sized split rings but to a BLACK split rings.. Is that ok to do? Someone told me it would make the spoons more "Stealthy" in lake hurons zebra mussel filtered gin clear water. I was also informed the flashy default stainless steel split rings and hooks on them can actually deter strikes. So by changing out the stainless steel split rings and adding black split rings and also adding a BLACK crane swivel to top of the spoon and change out hook from stock treble to a black nickel sickle siwash hook that will make the spoon more stealthy to spooky fish in bright gin clear water of lake huron. Any truth to this?
I see on rb lures spoons they only use black split rings and a black crane swivel and black nickel sickle hook and ppl swear by them.. So my thought was if i do the same to my cleos and kos maybe it wouldnt hurt????

Most of us on here have a sense of humour, nothing to take to heart. As far as you’re question goes, most likely the people who have viewed the thread and not Posted don’t know the answer.
Some of us now are interested too, have to take everything here with a grain of salt. Keep in mind with the little amount of post you have it takes time for People to know your here to give your own input/threads.
A lot of people sign up just to Watch the forums for info/pictures only, so some guys are more wary of giving up lakes or spots. I know this isn’t the case with your thread/post now, but jut keep it in mind for the future.
Hope you get an answer on here soon, it’s only a matter of time someone who Has the knowledge and experience will chime in.

I don't think stealheader was being sarcastic. He was encouraging you to give it a go, and see if it makes a difference in your experience. Personally I've never seen a difference. But I always use premium quality terminal tackle. Spend a little bit more, don't lose a trophy! Cheers!

never really gave this any deep thought,,,,,,,,use both silver and black, never seen any difference in the hookups due to swivel color and I for sure do not swap out the split rings

I guess you want someone else to do all the work for you?
Seriously go experiment and come up with your own answer. The truth is using baits you have confidence in is more important than anything else. Fishermen tend to overthink things.

I've always added split rings to spoons that didn't have one but I'm not sure if the colour matters much. "Most" spoons are quite flashy so a little chrome ring shouldn't make much difference. I think the advantage of a split ring is to allow the lure to move more freely with the designed action.
