Hey all, I hate to be that guy, but i'm brand new to steelhead fishing, just bought myself a streamside combo and some waders. I'm looking to see if anyone would be willing to either go out with me and help teach me the basics or even just offer some advice in regards to where a good spot to start out is. I'm open to fishing with anyone if they are looking for a fishing partner! Shoot me a text if you dont want to share on here. my number is 289-879-1445. thanks in advance, I really appreciate any tips or information that you more experienced anglers can provide me. once bass season comes around, id be more than happy to share some knowledge in return!

Hey,
I'm just getting started myself and have been out once already with a friend maybe we could all kinda learn it together. What area are you located in? I have a few spots that I've tried and will probably be heading out again on Saturday morning if I can convince my buddy to come with me again.
Either way, let me know and i'm open to meeting up with you in the spots I've been trying if I can convince him to come along.

I started steelheading last year and have learned a lot. Like disco said utube is your friend. I've also been lucky to pick the brain of fellow fisherman on the river. A couple have even showed me a couple of spots. For me the most important thing is to get your drift right. That means staggered shotting and proper size bobber for conditions. Get your bait close to the bottom without dragging it. Im also convinced that proper roe is important. My buddy has roe that is like marbles. Its solid as a rock and lasts forever without milking out. My roe has to be changed every 10-15 drifts. I outfish him 10-1. It could be hes not as experienced as me but when you're fishing side by side with the same setup except bait and you catch fish and your buddy doesnt i say its bait. Told my friend we would exchange baits next time to test my theory. I also do a lot of running and gunning. If im fishing a deep pool i may spend 30mins otherwise its 10-15. I find most bites happen in the first 5-10 drifts. If i catch a fish in a pool I'll spend more time there. Hope that helps. Good luck!
