Finally got the new boat out for her maiden voyage! Launched at Foran’s marine. Honour system for the launch but I couldn’t find the money box and even asked the lady running the restaurant there, she said Foran’s is closed, ramp is open, use at own risk but it’s free.
Weather was beautiful, water got really choppy returning to the marina. First time using a planer board as well. Couldn’t find the “mud line”. We trolled towards Niagara in about 10’ of water with a planer board closer to shore. Second rod was behind the boat. Had what I thought was a bite but later found out that my lure must have hit a rock or bottom and the lip broke off it. Back at the marina we ran out of gas about 100’ from the ramp, had to use the kicker. Also found out that the kicker hit the main motor when I steer all the way it to the right, so I bashed into the dock and my trailer. Nothing major and no damage, more of a free show the onlookers! LOL... Have to mount the kicker to a different spot.
So, long story short....the boat floats and seems to handle the chop pretty good. Both motors are functional, the gas gage is not, I need more practice with the launch and to take the boat out. My itch is scratched or maybe got worse because I can’t wait to get back out there. The wife did not enjoy the ride especially since the water temp was a cool 34F, howere the daughter and the dog had a blast!
Cheers everyone and tight lines!

Tried to post a pic but she is a no-go. Will add it as soon as I figure out why it’s not allowing me!

Glad you had fun. Niagara is a scary place to run out of gas, glad it happened close to the dock and you had the kicker.

Your picture is likely too large, make sure it is resized so it is under 4mb in size and try again

Cheers

wow, that is not what I wanted to hear....

so no mud line cause 3 days of north winds......pick up on that before next one.

temps aw well below norms, so bite will be tough.

know you were ansy to get out there, but lots of time and safety first on the big o

glad you made it back ok

LOL Longshank.....seems to make more sense to you than it did to me!
Still had fun and we were safe! Thanks for the feedback though.
The pic is not too large, but the message I get is that it's in the wrong format. It is a JPEG, not sure what it should be, but I am sure someone will tell me on here
cheers

Glad you made it back safe and sound. Early season boating can be dangerous. Not well suited for the inexperienced.. But you did scratch the ice.. Compared to my boat which is still in storage.

I do have one and thanks for the channels! The weather did change, for the worse, the wind picked up and by the time we hit the marina there were 2 foot white caps on the lake. I was glad to get off...lol!
Cheers

The CCG cutter out of Port Weller is not in service yet. Neither is GAMRU. The fuel dock at St Catharines marine is open 8 to 4 mon to frid. HOWEVER use extreme caution in the marina as there are PILLING just below the surface. PROP KILLERS.
