With the Pike season closing before the spawn I decided to hit Tommy Thompson looking for some pre-spawn pike. They are usually pretty easy to find, unless the bay you wanted to fish was still frozen. Since I was out there I tried some new water and ran into a few nice scrappy pike. Both fish hit a deep diving Shadow Rap off the exact same break.

I'm looking forward to May so I can get back out there and get some more.

She was a bit beat up but still in great shape (must be a little pre-spawn fore-play)

Nice!

Thank you for the report.

I also fished for pike from shore yesterday on my local pond. No luck. Later switched to a light tackle and was rewarded with a huge bluegill and a crappie about 11-12".

Nice fish and appreciated the video you put together as well.

Just wondering what brand of side mount holder you use and your thoughts about it? I'm hoping to buy a kayak this spring and the side mounts really appeal to me.

Thanks and again, looked like a nice time on the water!

The side holder I use is actually a paddle holder from BPS. It fits the butt of the fishing rod quite well and I use a elastic cord to keep the middle part of the rod secure. Super cheep and works great!

Cool, thanks for the tip and again, loving the video! I'm just learning how to use mine and can't wait to record some fun stuff this year with it!
