After having to cancel a trip out on the lake yesterday due to the high winds forecast, I first decided that I finally had a chance to complete my nasty job of applying the annual anti fouling paint on the hull of my boat.

Got that done and a few more minor items and was leaving Marina and decided to park and grab a rod and toss a few casts with some bright baits.

Felt good to just cast and retrieve and manged tp get 2 hammer handles, 1 small drum and a very skanky looking brown trout in about an hour or so.

noticed carp and suckers moving around as well.

Did not have the camera, but was just good to toss some baits

It is beginning

Glad you got out Shank! Weather did turn pretty nasty with the rain and wind, looked like that the call to cancel was a good one!
Nice to see nature come alive in the spring! That is fever...hahaha!!! Ice fishing was not a big thing in Hungary where I grew up and the first signs of spring was the signal to clean the dust off the fishing rods that have been sitting since the fall. I still get the same feeling each year when the robins return and the first flowers start to poke their head out of the ground. Some things I just don’t grow out of....luckily!!!

Well done Werner..

This time of year, always have the gear in the trunk..

Glad you kicked off the softwater ~ with some fish to boot..

What a cold spring so far! The sun is deceiving to say the least.. Looks great outside, but there is this chill in the air.. Brisk winds...

Dress warm and you are fine..

Wet a line..

Sounds like you made the right call! As mentioned above, it's a MUST to have a rod (or 2, or 3) in the truck this time of year.

I had high hopes, but looks like I took off the wrong week next week Hoping we get a bit of a break next week, weather cancelled my plans with a buddy to get out on his boat... Stuck chuckin spoons from shore, so I'm sure to battling mud lines rain and wind. Let's hope for the best!!
