Hey guys,

I have only fished the lower Niagara (down stream from Queenston) once with a trout guide. I was hoping to get out possibly this weekend but don't know what to expect. I know there is current, but I do not know how powerful it is. I have a 12' deep V with a 15hp motor.

What are your guy's thoughts on if this set up is good enough to launch at queenston and fish downstream from there? what are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Dmorrs (Dave)

Can it be done by someone with experience on that section of the Niagara yes. Should it be done with a undersized boat with minimal horse power in that section no.

With no experience just do t do it.

Just my opinion. I used to guide there so I hope my opinion is slightly better than someone else with little experience.

Be safe what ever you decide.

I would agree with disco on this one. there are a few lower drifts that you could do, but then winds have an impact there. eg. today

this is one river not to be treated as just another water body. I also still guide there and have seen too many lose their lives due to lack of knowledge on both current/winds and boat size

I do see the odd 12 footer go on the river and it never looks good.

your choice in the end though

thanks disco and longshank for your guys' opinions. I knew there was current, but I wasn't sure how tough of a go it would be. the final kicker for me was the 90% chance of rain with thunderstorm warnings... if we do go out after muskies on saturday, we chose to go to a new lake neither of us have fished the kawarthas. maybe sometime in a bit I could convince my dad to go to the Niagara in his boat
