My buddy and I are off to Manitoulin bright and early in the morning to fish Lake Trout on Lake Manitou. This is an annual trip for a group of us and this year there will be 10 of us.

We usually do pretty well with the Lake Trout, but this year may be different because of the early Spring. Most years we catch the fish in 3 to 10ft of water, but they may be deeper this year. We shall see.

Also, most people don't know the Ministry has been stocking Lake Nipigon strain Speckled Trout in Manitou for a number of years. We've never caught any or even targetted them in the past, but this year, I'll try a few different things and see if I can connect with one or more.

I'll post the results next week.

If you take a look at the Simcoe Board, you will see some of the spare ribs I smoked today for supper tomorrow night.
