Three fishing adventures…1 report
I wanted to get a few reports out but just haven’t had the time lately so I am combining them into 1. Here we go!
Lake O Salmon
A co-worker and I headed to Port Hope in search of some staging salmon. I have been targeting these fish at night in the lake for several years but never had any success during the day. That all changed today. We hooked and lost a number of fish before finally connecting with a few brutes! Rapala J11’s and J9’s were the ticket!

G-Bay bass with my dad
My parents came up to meet their new granddaughter so my dad and I snuck away for the day, to be fair my wife and mom didn’t even notice we were gone. We headed to Georgian Bay for the day in search of some bass. A cold front the day before really hurt the fishing and we really had to work for them but ended up finding a few willing participants. My Dad started the day off with a great 4lb 13oz smallmouth and we picked through some decent largemouth through the day.

Senko’s and swimbaits were the main baits used. It’s always nice getting out with the person that introduced you to fishing!
Early fall musky – Otonabee River
With the “colder” weather starting to move in the musky have started to pack it on for the upcoming winter. This is the beginning of a great time of year for musky fishing. My hardcore fly fishing buddy and I headed to the Otonabee River to see if we could connect with a few fish. The day started with a hooked and lost fish on a double 8 buck tail then slowed to a halt. But at 10:30 everything changed. The fish were hungry and willing to attack anything near them. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t having the best day setting the hook or keeping fish on. Thankfully this little fella decided to play along and allowed me to take his picture. We ended the day seeing 9 fish.
Otonabee River Musky - A quick video of the day
It’s been a great end of August and beginning of September and I can’t wait for the colder weather to get here. I have another trip planned for the Otonabee before switching gears to deep water bass on Simcoe.
