So I ventured out about 400 yards this afternoon along the South Shore between Callander Bay and Deep Water Pt. I drilled a few holes and ice was surprisingly good. It varied between 7 - 9 inches with at least 5 or 6 inches of black ice with 2 to 3 inches of white ice on top. Sorry I can’t compete with Kokemachines entertaining reports we all enjoy, but I thought people would still be interested. Looking good for Jan 1st!
Thanks ZZZAngler! It's good to see some measurements from different spots. If it's ok I'll mention your efforts in a future report.
My pleasure KM. I agree its better to get readings from different parts of the Lake, although nobody does it like you!
I went out this morning again in same area (between DWP and Callander Bay along South Shore). Walked out over 1/2 km. Ice was 11 1/2 inches closer to shore and almost 13 inches further out. Sorry I don’t know how to post pics of location on map like others. Snowmobiles also starting to buzz the lake. Should have lots of ice for Jan 1st
