From your experience, does the West Arm freeze earlier due to it smaller size and shallower water (and warmer temps)?
Yeah, where I am located is pretty much the widest part of the lake. The predominately southern wind causes my area to blow up very easily so it tends to be one of the last parts of the lake to freeze. The west end has a lot more bays and what not so it makes sense that it would freeze sooner.

Your furry assistants are amusing, I don't think too many would venture out onto the ice.
Yeah they are always humoring me with their antics. They are both adventure cats that go on walks with my wife and I wherever we go. They both really like hanging out by the lake and they seem quite intrigued when it ices over. Once the ice is on, though, they rarely walk out further than 30 yards when I go out.

Hey Kokemachine, love the updates. Do you mind if I ask your approximate location? Me and a few friends are headed up that way end of January and am curious if you're anywhere near Calendar Bay for reference of similar conditions

I am along the North shore west of North Bay. As this is the most open part of the lake I'm sure the conditions area little different in Callander Bay.
