Once I got past that at a water depth of about 2' there was only 2". I don't see much of a change for the near future, temperatures are mild and the lake is still cooling... Now the lake has to still cool the entire water column, which will slow down the ice growth for the near future.,
Lakes don't freeze solid until you get turnover. I was on the water every week from the beginning of Sept until the west arm froze over. In terms of temps, we were below seasonal from the 2nd week of Oct until mid Nov. I broke ice (unexpectedly) Nov 4th. It was not a flash freeze and there is no more "cooling off" the water column has to do.

Hey guys, I'm a newbie to Nipissing planing on a trip to go up on new year's day. Anyone willing to help give out some pointers of where to start and if there will be any operators at that time? If not a good place to venture on our own to hopefully find some eyes. Any info helps fella's Coming from way down under were we dont know if she'll freeze at all Thanks!

Go back and read through the posts from January to March 2018, all of your questions will be answered on these posts. I would think most operators will be booked for January 1st but you will find some posts referencing walk on spots.
