Heading to Elliot lake on the long weekend. Anyone know the area? Or a good place I can fish from shore? Won't be able to take the boat up, but I also can't go all the way up there and not fish! Lol
I've been looking at google earth and see a few spots I might be able to try.
Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

Most of the small lakes in the area seem to have resident Lake Trout and Brook Trout populations.

But you will have better luck in the following lakes:

1) Horne Lake (stocked w/ Rainbow Trout & Splake)
2) Porridge Lake (pike, smallmouth & perch)
3) Nordic Lake (cold water & warm water mixed fishery)
4) Second Lake (brook trout)

ha ha
I didn't do so well.
I tried Horne, and saw a beautiful bow, but spooked it. Tried for another hour, but no go.
Then I tried Elliot lake right at the boat launch and caught around 3 dozen of the smallest perch I've ever seen!! LOL the biggest being 4"?
I also tried one lake just outside of town, Depot? Had a nice pike on but she kicked off.
On the saturday night we had a family party, and in talking to some of the cousins kids learned that they were going fishing sunday morning. I talked them into taking me with them. The plan was to go walleye fishing. But the kids got to drunk at the party and slept all day! lol oh well.
Serves me right for not taking my boat with me.
Thanks again for trying to help me out!
Cheers!

Yes, rainbow trout spook easy. Sometimes only way to catch them in those small lakes is a blown worm and egg sinker and just wait for them. Can be a yawner. Sorry the locals couldn't help you more. Sounds like you had a fun weekend otherwise..
