My father and I went out today from waubaushene for pike opener. Couldn't ask for a better start to the season except we could only fish to 11 am as I had to work at 1pm. Landed 33 pike in just 4 hours the two biggest being about 7lbs. Needless to say we limited out. Water temp was 48" and casting spoons was are method. While out on the water of Severn sound we came across a MNR boat who was removing his traps from the water he told me he had caught pike in his nets today up to 20lbs. Wow can't wait to hook that one this week also walleyes in the 12 pound range hope this info helps everybody.

Sounds like fun!
I'm headed up that way Saturday, for the first time ever. Will be focused on the east side of the Georgian Bay Islands park for Pike/Walleye. Any tips?
I honestly would crap myself with that many fish in that short a time. I'm going to follow a guy who has fished there before, and he's suggesting Husky Jerks in Gold, I have some williams warblers, and some casting/trolling spoons. Was your retrieval speed fast or slow?

Sounds like a good day! Pics would be nice though....
Just curious though what launch at waubashene did you use and how much $ did it cost. Sunday I'm hoping to head up to parry sound with my fishing partner but I've always wanted to try waubashene...

We were using spoons with a very slow stop and let flutter retrieve, regular fast retrieve did not produce yet as the water is so cold. My favorite spoon for this is the Toronto wobbler. My dad uses a spoon called the lizard it's a bronze and gold colour mine is silver. He never uses anything else and always gets fish on this spoon they are both about 4"" long. My suggestion is find nicer green cabbage weed in shallow water 4-10 feet use a very slow retrieve with a fluttering spoon be patient and you will knock the heck out of them. Was out yesterday after work 4-515 till we got chased by rain landed 6 pike biggest 5 pounds too bad we got chased. As for pictures I reserve those for special fish 10 plus pounds soon!!! There are three marinas to launch at waub all about 10-20 in and out remember put the big hens back keep small ones to eat good luck. Canadian tire or bass pro carry these spoons.

Well, we were on the water out of Village Marina @ 5:30. saw lots of fish on the screen, nothing in the boat. We tried until 9am around the marina, in a few of the narrows and small bays. Around 9 we went up to the north side of Deer Island, the other boat we were with got 2 bass, and a little further on, 2 small pike. Nothing of any size. All those fish were caught on gold Husky Jerks.
Truthfully, I tried as as much as I could - threw everything I had at them and had 2 solid fish following, but couldn't get anything to commit.
Much appreciated again, we'll try our luck again when the weeds are out.

Hi Ern 23. Too bad that happens, I was out Saturday at waub it was slow but my friend and I got 19 pike all small biggest 4 and half pounds. Went out Sunday and I got 13 biggest 4 pounds. Waiting for big females to hit. No walleyes yet tried Sunday for 3 hours. Both retrieves were working on the pike fast and slow Toronto wobbler!!
This thread made me have to sign up. I fish the ghha ( greater honey harbor area ) and the numbers your saying just aren't realistic. Ern23 post had it right fish till 9 and get nothing then move and get a couple bass and a couple pike but nothing to brag about.

To oneighteen. Numbers are correct I've been doin this year after year for over thirty and the numbers are always there. If you can't get pike after spawn your not fishing them properly or have chosen a poor location. The bay is huge you have to know where to fish. Wasn't out today due to wind but two days ago caught four pike from8-830 pm biggest 5 pounds.
